Many of you will be familiar with this course as it is part of the BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training) which you need to work offshore. HUET is the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (or Helicopter Underwater Egress Training). I just recently undertook this course at on the MSTS barge in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, at Johor Port in Pasir Gudang.
The reception area on the barge. If you are taking a private taxi to the MSTS facilities, don't bother taking the taxi into the port proper, as the taxi has to stop at the security office which he will milk for extra Ringgit. It's much quicker to just get out and walk through the security checkpoint signing in yourself and follow the signs to Oasis complex on foot. It's about 5 minutes walk to the MSTS barge from the security checkpoint.
T-Card discipline is important and initially not many candidates seemed to be bothered to follow the rules. They soon got into the habit though.
Port Authority vessel moored at Johor Port, Pasir Gudang, Malaysia.
Helly Hansen suit in the main classroom area.
Pool area showing the HUET module and liferafts.
Lifeboats in use for the coxswain training. During the BOSIET lifeboat use and evacuation is also covered briefly.
